Welcome to the Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences!

 

As Chair of the Department, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2025/26 academic year. Whether you are a returning member or new to our mathematics and statistics community at the 91ÒùĸÊÓƵ, I am delighted to have you with us as we embark together on another year of exploration, discovery, and academic growth.

Our department has long been a cornerstone of excellence in mathematics and statistics, known for fostering an environment where rigorous scholarship meets innovative thinking. With a vibrant and growing community, we continue that tradition with a renewed commitment to cutting-edge research, collaborative learning, and impactful outreach.

This year marks a new chapter for us: our department is now fully settled in the University Commons building, after half a century in the Central Academic Building. While we are still adapting to the modern spaces, they are already helping us strengthen connections and create new opportunities for learning and collaboration, both within the department and across the university.

For our undergraduate students, I encourage you to take full advantage of our diverse program offerings and research opportunities. Graduate students can find useful resources on our .
