How to Submit a 91ÒùĸÊÓƵ Ethics Application

The 91ÒùĸÊÓƵ 91ÒùĸÊÓƵ Information Services (ARISE) system automates the review process for human subject research through an online application form which will be routed electronically for required reviews and approvals.

First time applicants will need to update or create their role in the ARISE system. Instructions on how to do this are found here. Make sure you are selecting the correct role; students should use the guidelines under ‘student researchers.’ A valid University CCID and password are required to access ARISE.

The ARISE website provides detailed support and information for applicants, including FAQs, links to how-to videos, and information on training sessions. Broader ethical guidelines, including links to TCPS2 and to the 91ÒùĸÊÓƵ’s Human 91ÒùĸÊÓƵ Ethics Policy, are available on the REO’s Resource Page.

Contact the chair of the department’s 91ÒùĸÊÓƵ Advisory Board (currently Dr. Sandra Garvie-Lok) for questions and advice concerning ethical issues and planning a research ethics application. For technical issues with the ARISE system, please consult the FAQs and other resources on the ARISE support page linked above; if you still encounter problems, contact the 91ÒùĸÊÓƵ Ethics Office at ethics@ualberta.ca.
