Welcome

Welcome to the Department of Economics! We have a large undergraduate program offering economics majors, Honors in Economics. We also have a strong graduate program, offering two Masters' and a Ph.D. program. We offer a wide breadth of , so you are sure to find something that interests you. Our internationally diverse faculty is dedicated to teaching and has one of the country's strongest research records.

Undergraduate Programs

Economics students learn about models that study how the world works, from individual decisions to the forces that shape countries. An undergraduate degree in Economics provides a comprehensive background for understanding economic models along with strong skills in data analysis. Either through BA Major in Economics, or BA Honors in Economics, graduates move on to careers such as finance, banking, policy analysis, law, data science, among many other opportunities.

Graduate Programs

The MA EconomicsMA Economics with a Specialization in Finance,  and PhD programs prepare graduates for employment in the private or public sector. Students receive training in economic theory, econometrics, as well as a variety of policy-oriented and data-intensive electives.

Our mission is to advance and share knowledge in economics to help solve today’s most pressing challenges. Our faculty are engaged in research and teaching across several fields, including Energy and Environmental Economics, International Development and Trade, Labour Economics, Industrial Organization, and Macroeconomics.
