You'll want to bring your family along, as you are just next to skiing, outdoor activities, and the BASIN Glacier Waters. Meal plan passes are also available for family members under 18.

Are you looking to attend just one day? A one-day lecture pass grants you access to either Friday's OR Saturday's lectures, coffee breaks, breakfast and lunch.

2. Buy a two-day lecture pass

Get access to any lecture. A two-day lecture pass includes Friday and Saturday's lectures, two coffee breaks per day, breakfast and lunch.

3. Register for a certification course

Separate from the lectures are our course offerings. We have two half-day courses on Sunday. Course registration alone does not include a lecture pass.

4. Buy both a lecture pass and a certification course registration

Want the best of both worlds? Buy both a lecture pass and a course registration. You will get access to the course and your lecture pass' corresponding lectures, coffee breaks, breakfast and lunch.

Group discount

Groups of four or more lecture passes will receive 10% off their passes automatically. Passes must be on the same purchase and can be any combination of lecture passes.

Lectures

Experience top-tier learning with two days of dynamic content. There are two streams of content: sedation and wellness.

Attendees can jump between the two streams, and there's no need to register for individual talks; just grab a seat at any lecture that is of interest, getting two streams of content for the price of one, with each having an oral health perspective from experts in sedation, dermatology, law, accounting, finances, and insurance.

Keynote: Dr. Stanley Malamed
Dentist anesthesiologist

Dr. Malamed, DDS is a dentist anesthesiologist and emeritus professor of dentistry at the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry. Dr. Malamed graduated from the New York University College of Dentistry in 1969. Then completed a residency in anesthesiology at Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center in the Bronx, New York before serving for two years as a captain in the US Army Dental Corps at Ft. Knox, Kentucky. In 1973, he joined the faculty of the University of Southern California School of Dentistry (now the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC). Dr. Malamed retired from full-time teaching at the university in 2013.

He is a diplomate of the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology, and a recipient of the Heidebrink Award (1996) from the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, the Horace Wells Award from the International Federation of Dental Anesthesia Societies, 1997 (IFDAS), and the Leonard M. Monheim Distinguished Service Award from the American Society of Dentist Anesthesiologists (2015).

Dr. Malamed has authored more than 170 scientific papers and 17 chapters in various medical and dental journals and textbooks in the areas of physical evaluation, emergency medicine, local anesthesia, sedation and general anesthesia.

In addition, he is the author of three widely used textbooks, published by CV Mosby: Handbook of Medical Emergencies in the Dental Office (8th edition 2022); Handbook of Local Anesthesia (7th edition 2020); and Sedation – A Guide to Patient Management (6th edition 2017) and two interactive DVDs: Emergency Medicine (3rd edition, 2018) and Malamed’s Local Anesthetic Technique DVD (2004) (edition 2 - 2012). The textbooks have been translated into 22 foreign-language editions.

In his spare time, Dr. Malamed is an avid runner, exercise enthusiast, and he admits an addiction to the New York Times crossword puzzle, which he has done daily since his freshman year in dental school.

Sedation assistant certification

Become a key team member in the delivery of sedation dentistry. This technology-integrated course combines the convenience of remote learning and the effectiveness of on-site workshops. This is a required course for all RDAs working in sedation offices.

This technology-integrated course combines the convenience of remote learning through eClass and the effectiveness of in-person learning with our on-site workshops. Prior to on-site attendance, there is a three week study period (approx. 30 hours) with a theoretical review, video lectures, and multiple choice quizzes. Participants will study:

  • Pain and anxiety in dentistry
  • Spectrum of pain and anxiety control
  • Modes of sedation
  • Mechanics of sedation
  • Monitoring and record keeping
  • Complications and emergency response
  • CDSA's Sedation Standards

Sunday, Feb. 8, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Emergency airway management certification

Dr. Gregory Austin and Andrew Reid | CE credits will vary | $975 | Dentists and RDHs | Limited capacity

Be confident in your clinical skills in managing airway emergencies! Knowing how to respond to respiratory emergencies in a patient's airway is a critical skill for health-care professionals, particularly when administering various modes of sedation.

This course consists of two components: a theory module and a hands-on module. Participants will have the opportunity to practice airway management on high-fidelity simulators and run through simulations to improve their confidence and skill.

This course will enable you to:

  • Distinguish sedation levels in moderate to general anesthesia in terms of clinical characteristics and influence on respiratory and cardiovascular function.
  • Understand the essential features of preoperative assessment for patients undergoing dental treatment under sedation or general anesthesia.
  • Demonstrate and describe principles of patient monitoring distinguishing requirements for moderate sedation versus deep sedation/ general anesthesia based on your sedation permitting.
  • Complete proper airway maintenance during sedation and general anesthesia.
  • Action the proper use of devices for oxygenation and ventilation.
  • Know the pathogenesis, recognition and appropriate management of possible complications associated with moderate sedation, including essential pharmacology of emergency drugs that may be required.

Located next to the Fairmont is the Lake Louise Ski Resort. Spread over four mountain faces, it is one of the largest ski areas in North America, with 145 runs, famous for its champagne powder. This alpine terrain offers a variety of runs for all skill levels.

Located within the Fairmont, BASIN is a self-guided thermotherapy circuit. Exclusive to the use of resort guests, it is recommended to reserve your spot early for this healing journey.

This refund policy refers to the Sedation Updater's lecture tickets and courses purchased from the 91ÒùĸÊÓÆµ. Please refer to the corresponding organizations for refunds relating to your accommodations and other experiences.

The 91ÒùĸÊÓÆµ offers a full refund for requests made before Jan. 1, 2026. For refund requests between Jan. 1 and Jan. 31, 2026, the refund will be 50% of the purchase. Refunds will no longer be issued starting on Feb. 1, 2026.
